Urban Decanter- My One Month Anniversary!

Today is a monumental day in my career, well, at least to me it is! May 22nd marks the one month anniversary of the purchase of Urban Decanter. It feels like the sale closed last week, not last month!
Time has been flying and I enjoy every minute of it. I have said this before and I will say it again....

So what has happened in the past month? I can tell you I have been working long hours and giving this business everything I have. For once I can say I am putting my heart and soul into my career. In the past month I have learned to run the business from the bottom up. I do everything from ordering food, wine, and beer, to creating menu items, cooking and yes....I do my bookkeeping! I have been doing my best to keep up with things, and as I get into my routine I hope that I can get involved more into the community. Maybe I can even launch my new website soon (yes that is still in the works....).

My philosophy in my shop will be to carry and sell wine, beer and local products that I can stand behind and support. It is fact that may never be the case 100% of the time, but I will do my best! I must balance the products I love with the products that my guests love as well. My beer selection here went from a handful to 28 labels, and is still growing! I have run out of fridge space and will need to find another beer cooler soon! The other thing I have been doing is bringing in my favorite local wine producers. My wine selection has grown in numbers as well. Bringing in the wines that I support is such a blessing. I love being able to introduce, taste and sell customers these wines. I have also begun to incorporate local products into my menu as well such as Republic of Jam, Flying Barracuda and Strohmayer Fruit & Nut Co. I must also mention the wine classes that I have introduced to this community with the help of Charlotte from The Wine Key! She does an amazing job with her students and I look forward to hosting many more classes with her!

With having a month under my belt I feel like I have just scratched the surface of this business. I have met many wonderful individuals, couples and families in Urban Decanter. I feel like I am building some great relationships and am building a business that will reflect my passions.

Again- Thank you to everyone who has been supporting me. It means the world to me! Going into a small business is scary, but its where my heart is.
